Loud popping noise coming from under the 1998 Jeep Cherokee?

My 1998 Jeep Cherokee makes a loud noise when going from drive to reverse and reverse to drive, and it shakes when I take a curve. I'm good enough for car repairs, but I have not found the root of problem. I removed the transfer case and rear and found no mechanical problems. I've seen online the link for the shifter 4 wheel drive can be replaced. Any thoughts? The transfer case is allowed, and is therefore the end back. I have the front drive shaft, and motor carriers are good. Can he still be in the front? The gear lever to the right, and slipping not. I find it hard to believe he could be in the transmission. Any thoughts? Help please!

which still sounds like a problem of transfer of cases, however if you do not have manual locking hubs, front axle and driveshaft yoke are still committed and if the u-joints or bearings are bad, they make noise or even "catch" in the corners
